Visitors from Above (2) - Gary

ok from rainy cold Bruxelles.....brrrrrrr brrrrrrrr - yes recalling that wondrous trip downunder ...after you guys i did enjoy staying on Manly Beach a far too corporate hotel....yet worth it for the beach frontage the roar of the ocean as you drift off to the land of nod....and as the gentlest of alarm clocks a few hours later - i was drawn into the running in the morning.....everyone is at it so guilt sets in - go to the surf school ....the one in the middle of the beach and the surfer dudes who work there are great fun - the restaurant ....icebergs at bondi is awesome ...where else can you enjoy a gorgeous seafood risotto, in a crisp white minimalist world and gaze down on the surfers balancing on the perfect wave. Exactly!

Melbourne has grown-up a lot in the last 16 years. I stayed at the best place .....The Prince and it lived up to its' regal title....from uber-cool bar to uber-cool spa it has it. The corridors are out of a David Lynch film and the rooms sublime. I also bumped into an old friend in the
foyer.....how many hotels can arrange that?! Down the road is St.Kilda's Ackland Rd great cafes and hangout country. Greasy Joes cannot be beaten for people watching and scoff. Cross to Williamstown on the ferry for old style naval charm.....although avoid a choppy passage when severely hungover I hasten to add.

A must is to head out SE to the Mornington Peninsula to the wineries. The Montalto winery is where we wedding receptioned.....an awesome modern building overlooking THE most beautiful of undulating wine country. The produce tastes pretty good too! Of course the journey was helped by a few old and a few new friends. Beautiful 'stralia - I'll be back soon
although those were also my parting words when i left 16 years ago!

Gxx
